As the name suggests a Complete Denture is that dental prosthesis which is constructed to replace all the missing teeth in the oral cavity, whether the whole of the maxilla or whole of the mandible or all the teeth missing in both the arches.

It is also known as Full Dentures.

Advantages of using a Complete Denture:

Mastication: i think this is the main advantage of the complete dentures where the patient can hard substances.

Phonetics: The patient can pronounce more efficiently and the dental sounds are more refined with its use.

Aesthetics: This is also one of the main advantages of using C.D, the patients face shows fullness(labial fullness) which brings back the charm lost.

Confidence: The confidence and self esteem of the patient is brought back, and will be free to talk in public.

Health: Health of the patient is better with its use as the patient can now eat a variety of hard and soft substances.

It is also defined as ” The science and art of providing suitable substitutes for the coronal portions of teeth or for one or more lost or missing natural teeth and their associated parts in order that function, appearance, comfort, and health of the patient may be restored. [ by ADA ]

In simple terms we can say that Prosthodontics is the art by which we can replace the missing oral structures( teeth, gingiva. . etc)  with artificial prosthesis
